Warning: Email misusing the name Womble Bond Dickinson LLP

Email correspondence has been sent misusing the name of Womble Bond Dickinson LLP in relation to a supposed Copyright Infringement Notice.
What is the scam?
The SRA has seen an email purportedly sent t from 'Douglas J Clark' on behalf of Womble Bond Dickinson LLP. The email claims that the recipient has infringed copyright by using music in an online posting. The email also instructs the recipient to take certain remedial steps and that a failure to do so will lead to legal proceedings.
The email was sent using the email address 'mckaylily90525@gmail.com'.
Any business or transaction through the individual or email address above is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Womble Bond Dickinson (UK) LLP (SRA ID 449247). The genuine firm's email domain is @wbd-uk.com.
The genuine firm of Womble Bond Dickinson (UK) LLP does not employ an individual named Douglas J Clark. The firm have also confirmed that it has no connection to the email referred to in the above alert.
