Warning: Emails misusing the names of Harriston Drury & Co, Amy Leslie and Jackie Donnelly

Emails have been sent misusing the names of Harrison Drury & Co Ltd, Amy Leslie and Jackie Donnelly in relation to a conveyancing matter.

What is the scam?

The SRA has seen emails that have purportedly been sent from 'Amy Leslie' on behalf of 'Jackie Donnelly, Chartered Legal Executive'. The emails relate to a conveyancing transaction and misuse the name of a genuine firm of solicitors, a genuine solicitor and a genuine Chartered Legal Executive (see details below). The emails provide details of a bank account and ask the recipient to transfer deposit funds in multiple tranches from their mobile banking app to avoid the inconvenience of going to a bank.

The emails were sent from the email addresses 'jackie.donnelly@harrisons-dury.com', and 'amy.leslie@harrisons-dury.com'. The emails include the telephone numbers '01524 954 168' and '07799 161 490'.

Any business or transaction through the contact details mentioned above is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors Harrison Drury & Co Ltd (SRA ID 534326). The genuine firm uses the email domain @harrison-drury.com and telephone number is 01772 258321.

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor called Amy Leslie (SRA ID 438594) who is employed at Harrison Drury & Co Ltd and her genuine email address is amy.leslie@harrison-drury.com.

Jackie Donnelly is employed at Harrison Drury & Co Ltd as a CILEX Practitioner.

The genuine firm of solicitors Harrison Drury & Co Ltd, Amy Leslie and Jackie Donnelly have confirmed that they do not have any connection to the emails referred to in the above alert.
