Warning: Website and letter misusing the name and SRA number of Cressida Lucy Ada Killick, and name and email address of Robert Paul Onyett

'Fiverr' profile misuses genuine solicitor's name and SRA number. Separate letter misuses genuine solicitor's name and SRA number, another genuine solicitor's name and work email address, together with their employer details.

What is the scam?

The SRA has been informed of a false profile on the freelance services marketplace Fiverr (the website 'www.fiverr.com') with the name of 'Cressida Lucy'. The profile purports to be for an individual who is offering legal services and suggests that the individual is regulated by the SRA.

The SRA has also seen a letter that has been sent to a member of the public in relation to a tenancy matter misusing the name and SRA number of a genuine solicitor (see below), the name and genuine work email address of a further genuine solicitor (see below), as well as the name and details of a genuine firm (see below).

The SRA does not authorise or regulate an individual solicitor named 'Cressida Lucy'.

Any business or transaction through the above profile of 'Cressida Lucy' on the website Fiverr or letter is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Harrowells Limited (SRA number 615304).

Their head office address 1 St. Saviourgate, York, YO1 8ZQ. Its genuine telephone number is 01904558600 and the email domain used by the firm at its head office and throughout its branch offices is "…@harrowells.co.uk".

Their branch office (SRA number 619416) address is Moorgate House, Clifton Moor Gate, York, YO30 4WY. Its genuine telephone number is 01904690111.

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor called Cressida Lucy Ada Killick with SRA number 7018414. Cressida Lucy Ada Killick is a Solicitor at the genuine firm Harrowells Limited.

The SRA also authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor called Robert Paul Onyett with SRA number 155983. Robert Paul Onyett is a Solicitor at the genuine firm Harrowells Limited.

The genuine firm Harrowells Limited and the genuine solicitors Cressida Lucy Ada Killick and Robert Paul Onyett have confirmed that they have no connection to the matter referred to in the above alert.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
