Youtube accounts have been created misusing the names of Edward Crane and Oliver Bennett.

What is the scam?

The SRA has been informed that Youtube accounts have been created purporting to be solicitors 'Oliver Bennett' and 'Edward Crane'.

The website address for the 'Edward Crane' account is https://www.youtube.com/@Edward_Crane and the website address for the account for 'Oliver Bennett' is https://www.youtube.com/@Oliver_Bennett-m3l.

The videos advertise a book through the website link https://knowrightsuk.gumroad.com/l/know-your-rights

Any business or transactions through the Youtube accounts shown above is not undertaken by an individual or firm of solicitors authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor named Edward Crane (SRA ID 631581).

We do not believe the genuine solicitor Edward Crane has any connection with the Youtube account in the above alert.

The SRA authorises and regulates multiple genuine solicitors named Oliver Bennett.

The genuine solicitors named Oliver Bennett have confirmed that they do not have any connection to the Youtube account in the above alert.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary.
