Warning: Phone calls, emails, and WhatsApp messages falsely purporting to be from 'Michelle Page' of Morgan Lewis & Bockius UK LLP

Phone calls, emails and Whatsapp messages have been made and sent misusing the name of Michelle Page of Morgan Lewis & Bockius UK LLP

What is the scam?

The SRA has been advised that members of the public have received phone calls, emails and Whatsapp messages purportedly from an individual claiming to be 'Michelle Page'. The alleged 'Michelle Page' encouraged the individuals to send funds and sign documents in connection with the recovery of funds.

The SRA has also been advised the emails were sent from the following email addresses:

  • michelle.page@morganlewislegal.com
  • michelle.page@morganlevis.online
  • michelle.page@morganlewisconsulting.net
  • michellepage709@gmail.com

The calls and WhatsApp messages were received from +44 7462 671 802 and 0034611327815. The WhatsApp messages also misuses the profile photo of a 'Michelle Page'.

Any business or transaction through the email addresses of 'michelle.page@morganlewislegal.com', 'michelle.page@morganlevis.online', 'michelle.page@morganlewisconsulting.net', and 'michellepage709@gmail.com' is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Any business or transaction through the telephone numbers '+44 7462 671 802' and '0034611327815' is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Morgan Lewis & Bockius UK LLP and Michelle Page, who is a Registered Foreign Lawyer.

The genuine firm of Morgan Lewis & Bockius UK LLP and genuine individual by the name of Michelle Page of Morgan Lewis & Bockius UK LLP, have both confirmed they have no connection to the email addresses and telephone numbers referred to in the above alert.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
